About our coverage

DJ hire in Waikato.

The Waikato is our home patch. My Event DJ is based in Hamilton, our team lives across the region, and most of our weekends play out somewhere between Raglan and the Coromandel hills.

That means short-notice availability, a familiar local face, and a DJ who already knows the room, the load-in, the parking, and where the dancefloor wants to go after dinner.

We're typically inside an hour of every Waikato venue. From the Hamilton CBD it's 25 minutes to Cambridge, 30 minutes to Te Awamutu, 40 minutes to Matamata, 45 to Raglan, and an hour to Putaruru. Most weekends we're on the road anyway.

Half our December calendar is corporate parties around Hamilton, Cambridge and the wider Waikato. We've been the DJ on the night for Genesis Energy, Ebbett Audi, NZEA, EastPack, Fosters Construction, Lugtons and Pinnacle Health, plus dozens of mid-size firms whose end-of-year function we quietly handle.

Awards nights, conferences, brand activations, in-office Christmas drinks, we cover it, with sound, lighting, a podium mic and an LED wall when the room needs it. Branded photo booths and 360 booths are a popular add for the corporate crowd.

How does travel work within the Waikato?

We're Hamilton-based and on the road across the Waikato most weekends, so travel's kept tidy and worked into your quote up front, no surprise line items on the day. For further-out spots or very late finishes where overnight accommodation makes more sense than a midnight drive home, we'll flag any travel cost before you book.

How busy do you get in summer?

Peak Waikato wedding season is December through to early April, with Saturdays in Feb/March usually fully booked 6+ months ahead. Off-peak Saturdays we can sometimes hold a date with a few weeks notice.

Can you DJ a rural Waikato farm wedding without mains power?

Yes. We bring our own generator option for off-grid sites and our rig is sized to run cleanly off it. Just flag it on the enquiry form so we can build the quote properly.

Do you DJ in-office Christmas parties around Hamilton?

Yes, we do plenty of in-office and big-room Christmas parties around Hamilton, Te Rapa, Frankton and Hamilton East. We size the rig down for smaller rooms and bring a portable lighting kit so the office still feels like a party.

Incredible! We used Chris at our wedding a month ago - we had him for the whole shebang. From ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and through to the dance floor Chris was incredible. He was inconspicuous, but the music and timing was perfect. He fitted seamlessly into our day. The app and communication beforehand made things super easy and uncomplicated. AND THEN he threw down absolute banger after banger on the dance floor later on. We cannot thank you enough for helping to make our wedding such an absolute hit.

We used my Event DJ, for our wedding in January and they were absolutely amazing. Their systems for song selection was simply to use, their communication was also out standing. We also used the package which included the photo both and this went down even better than we hoped, the photos and set up was amazing and all our guest thought it was one of the best photo booths they have used. Honestly we could not recommend these guys enough!. Thanks heaps for making our event! Marie & John

We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ for our wedding! Chris was on time, professional, and everything ran perfectly from start to finish. He was incredibly patient throughout the whole process and a huge help during the planning stages. He also set up the photobooth, which our guests absolutely loved it was such a hit all night! The whole service was amazing value for money. We’re so grateful for everything he did to make our day so special. Highly recommend!

Chris you are bloody epic! We had the best night with you, you listen to the crowd and know your music so well. Have had so many great parties with you but this one tops the rest! Will now be using you for every party ever lol thanks man!
